Pink Ruffles

Corkscrew

I’ve been knitting. It’s been chilly at night, so I like to sit in my comfy chair with my knitting needles and watch Monarch of the Glen, which my Tivo faithfully records every afternoon on BBC America. Thank you Tivo, for making life so pleasent.

The scarf pattern is from Scarf Style, and the yarn is Berroco Suede.

My Favorite Things

I’m starting a new tradition for Wednesdays. I’m calling it My Favorite Things. Play along if you want, post a link in the comments, I think it could be fun.

VintageI’ll start with a website full of useful information: Vintage Sewing.
Complete period sewing manuals to read on your computer! I want to make a 20’s inspired evening dress for a Holiday party this year, and this is proving to be a great resource. And the hats, how I am enjoying the hats! I’ve always wanted to learn millinary techniques.

Now for something completly mundane, yet oh so useful: Dust Cloths. I know, it seems silly, but living in the country is dirty business, and our house is always dusty. I was standing in the cleaning aisle at the hardware store looking for a solution, and almost bought a cheaper cleaning cloth, but then I spotted the Genuine Mystic Maid Cleaning Cloth which claimed to be the best in the whole world. 381% Better than all the rest! It was a few dollars more, but can you really put a price on being the best in the whole world? I don’t think so. And you know, I think they might just be that good. I’m going to get another one for my car, because it deserves the best too.

My favorite CD this week:
Emoh

Lou Barlow, Emoh. Good grief, he does a cover of Ratt’s Round and Round. You can’t not like it.

My favorite lipstick, ever.
Lipstick
Sequin

My shade? Sequin! Please don’t ever discontinue it! I have six empty MAC containers to trade in for a free one tonight on my way home. Life is good.

What are some of your favorite things?

Blog Vacation

I’m currently taking a blog vacation, in case you didn’t notice. My sister thinks she is 6 1/2 feet tall. If you need a little entertainment, I suggest visiting this blog. I’ve got to go put on my boogie shoes after watching that guy. I have pictures I want to post, and people to thank. My email is all screwy, so I’ve just been ignoring it. I’ll be back to regular positing in a week or so.

Poolside

Yvonne’s package finally arrived on Friday, and to celebrate I took everything to my friend Naz’s house this weekend for our girl’s day by the pool:

Yvonneswap

It was such a fun package, I love the magazines, and it was so great to practice my Dutch. I may not be so good at speaking it anymore, but I can read it and understand almost everything. And she made an adorable pincushion, which coincidentely matches my website, and I love love love the little pouch in my favorite-linen! The bird embroidery is so sweet. Thanks Yvonne! I hope this is the first of many swaps!

Also poolside, a self-portrait:
Feet

Feet! I love going barefoot. My shoes always come off when I get home.

The other cause for celebration by the pool? I got the job! I am now the official Technical Writer at my company. I started today, although I will be going back and forth for a little while to train my replacement when they find one. I’m so excited, this is such an amazing oppurtunity for me. My brain is tired tonight, though, from all the information I have to absorb. I only have two more days with the consultant that has been doing the technical writing and then she will be gone and I will be all on my own. Gulp!

I’m it!

UPDATE: I got it together enough to upload wedding photos. They’re not captioned and they’re not in any kind of order, but they’re still fun to look at.

Okay, so while I have a lot of pictures to share and tales to tell, I haven’t had a lot of time, so it will all just have to wait. In the meantime, Yvonne tagged me like a month ago. I’m a little behind, obviously. I think I’m the last person to do this, so I won’t tag anyone else. If you haven’t done it, pretend I tagged you and do it yourself :o)

5 Nice Things That Happened To You Lately
I had an interview for a new position in my company. I think it went really well. Fingers crossed!

I got to spend a long weekend will ALL of my family and it was so lovely!

The reason I was with my whole family is that my sister got married, and that’s a happy thing.

I did a swap with Yvonne, and even though my package STILL is not here, I am enjoying the anticipation.

I got sock monkey pajamas at Target.

quick update

I’ll post more tomorrow, but I had to point out that my sister had a guest blogger post to her blog. I don’t know how he got the password. That’s what you get when you go on a 10 day honeymoon to Maui.
